Inviting a doula to your birth is a deeply personal decision. Choosing the right doula is incredibly important. Our first meeting together is an introduction to decide whether we are a good fit.
I meet with you twice more once we have chosen each other. These visits happen at your home, with your labour partner or anyone else you wish to be present. I help you answer questions you have about pregnancy, birth, and caring for your baby. We will review pain coping practices and discuss information you may need to prepare for labour.
My library of birth books and my brain are available to you as soon as you hire me. I am available by phone and email to answer questions and provide guidance throughout your pregnancy.
Once you are 38 weeks pregnant, I am on call 24 hours a day. I hope you will notify me as soon as you are in labour, to give me adequate time to prepare and to arrange childcare for my son. Early labour can be an exciting and nerve wracking time. I am available by phone to help you through this stage.
As soon as you want extra labour support, I come to you and remain until after the birth of your baby. I am there to provide emotional and physical support to you and your labour partner. Your partner may need to eat and rest to give you the best support they can. I am there to offer suggestions, give them the break they may need, and help them to participate at their comfort level.
Once the baby is settled with you and breastfeeding is established, I help you get the rest you need. I then offer two post-partum visits to make sure feeding and healing are going well and to answer any questions. At these visits I provide some resources to connect you with the community.
Although our official meetings end after the post-partum visits, I look forward to news about you and your baby, and welcome emails and phone calls with questions well into the future.
my fee is $600
